Welcome to TEFAP Alliance The TEFAP Alliance is an informal coalition of local, state, and national organizations involved with and supporting The Emergency Food Assistance Program or TEFAP. TEFAP is a federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including elderly people, by providing them with commodity foods and nutrition assistance at no cost. Government-donated TEFAP foods are often distributed with emergency food donations from other sources. The purpose of the TEFAP Alliance is to promote knowledge and understanding of TEFAP and other services addressing the food, nutrition, and hunger needs of low-income Americans. This web site provides information on TEFAP and allied programs that deliver food and nutrition assistance. This web site and the TEFAP Alliance are supported by California Emergency Foodlink, a non-profit organization based in Sacramento, California. Foodlink’s mission is providing jobs, preventing hunger, and training for the future. Through TEFAP, its award-winning truck driving training program, and its statewide agricultural fresh produce rescue program – Donate Don’t Dump – Foodlink distributes more than 70 million pounds of food annually at no charge to recipient agencies. Teaming up with California Emergency Foodlink in sustaining the TEFAP Alliance is Weinberg & Vauthier Consulting of Burnet, Texas. Partners Barbara Vauthier and Zy Weinberg have years of experience in administering, researching, and reporting on government nutrition assistance programs. Weinberg & Vauthier Consulting produces the Foodlinks America newsletter on behalf of California Emergency Foodlink and the TEFAP Alliance. ___________ The TEFAP Alliance is leading an effort to make legislative improvements in the TEFAP program.
